Prof. Dr. Stefan Vandeweghe obtained his dentistry degree at Ghent University, where he subsequently also completed his training in oral implantology. In 2010 he obtained his PhD with the thesis “Factors affecting bone remodeling around surface modified implants”.
He then moved to Malmö, Sweden, where he worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Malmö University and as a clinician at the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry in Folktandvården Lund.
In 2012 he returned to Ghent University, where he again worked as a researcher and teacher. He also started a private practice in Ghent.
In 2018 he became head of the department of reconstructive dentistry at Ghent University. He teaches direct and indirect reconstructive dentistry, implantology and digital dentistry. He is the author of more than 60 international publications, is a board member of several scientific journals and regularly lectures internationally.
